Fire Fighter

The way you looked at me today
thru the drink of a glass,
maps built the X on your lips;
Kidnap like a pirate,
the fire lit a stick of bones,
melting and burning
a strike right to me.

Those flames
you must fight from a man;
The ones that couldn’t understand.
The fire fighter
can extinguish
any competing desire,
for the world
you have set on fire!

I never thought of the how’s
and the no’s,
and I can’t control
what you and I already know;
It was an unlikely notion
in my head.
I can sleep in
to only dream;
I know where I want to be.
