I saw you dance,
went over what your lips already said,
what he did,
and why I only saw myself through your eyes.
Time after time,
your every blink was more than goodbye,
more than silent night.
My fingertips revolving on a zigzag space between lungs,
and your certified surrendering smiles.
I knew this as a physic freedom.
Your heart that broke,
the one I could never bridge,
crushed every bit,
inch by inch.
I won’t pretend
I can make it work,
I can’t fix and try to replace
a bitter feeling with what I learned,
so we will let the maze of mistakes
find their burn.
No matter that invisible heartbeat
I want you to feel,
or wantin’ you to walk
with new ambition high heels
some day you’ll be in.
You must let faith drown
a reversible instinctive sin.
Please know I’m sorry
for everything he did.
Like the earth’s water dance around the shore
and the land’s hold from the sea,
each night you lay,
your past and future waves of pain
die somewhere with me.
And I say one last time,
I only saw myself through your eyes.
Your every blink was more than goodbye,
more than silent night.
